Chinese Government Scholarship for the Masters and Doctorate students

Study in Xi’an Jiaotong University

Chinese Scholarship Council provides many scholarships every year to the overseas students to study in few selected Chinese universities. Although very few Chinese universities are providing lectures in English, most of the universities instruction of medium is Chinese. If the instruction of medium is Chinese, a year long mandatory Chinese course is also included in the scholarship duration.

Under the mandate of Chinese Ministry of Education, Xi’an Jiaotong University is inviting students to apply for full-time postgraduate studies under the Chinese government scholarship program.

I. Number of Scholarships: 30

II. Application Deadline：December 31 2009

III. Eligibility Requirements:

  1. You must be a foreign nationals, and in good health.
  2. You are not studying in any Chinese universities now.
  3. Your Education Background and age requirements: To apply for doctorate studies you should have obtained a master’s degree and not be older than 40; to apply for master’s studies you should have a bachelor’s degree and you are not older than 35. Your master’s /bachelor degree should be from internationally recognised overseas universities, or those universities that have exchange programs with Xi’an Jiaotong University. You should have excellent grades in master’s /bachelor degree; or should be a student from overseas university recommended by a postgraduate advisor of Xi’an Jiaotong University.

4.  You have no other types of scholarship being granted.

IV. Scholarship facilities:

1.  You are exempted from registration fees, tuition fees, laboratory fees, internship fees, basic study and accommodation costs.

2.  Living allowance/stipend is provided (Master degree candidates 1700RMB/month, Doctorate candidates 2000RMB/month).

3.  After arrival to the university a set up fee is provided to the new student(1500 RMB).

4.  Outdoor service fees and Medical Insurance 600RMB/year.

VI. Required Forms & Documents

1.     Download (Link1, Link2) Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship.

2.     Download Application Form of Xi’an Jiaotong University.

3.     Download Foreigner Physical Examination Form.

4.     Certificate of Highest diploma (notarized photocopy). If the certificates/documents are not in English/Chinese then please attach the certificates/documents with notarized translations in Chinese or English.

5.     To apply for the Master’s programs you have to provide original or notarized transcripts of undergraduate studies; to apply for doctoral degree programs you have to provide original or notarized transcripts of Master’s program studies. If Transcripts are not in English/Chinese then attach the transcripts with notarized translations in Chinese or English.

6.     You can also submit the published research papers, certificates of awards obtained and other materials that demonstrate your abilities and excellence in studies.

7.     You have to submit two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English by professors or associate professors.

8.     A good study plan (not less than 800 words for master’s applicants; 1500 words for doctoral applicants).

9.     Registration fee 400 RMB ($60 dollar)
